    The Apex Program, a partnership between Catapult Learning, LLC and Pikes Peak BOCES, is hiring a special education teacher for a self-contained classroom serving students with social, emotional, and behavioral difficulties.

    Responsibilities

    The special education teacher provides instructional services with the necessary educational expertise in reading, mathematics, writing, and related areas; diagnoses learning skill deficits and delivers prescribed instructional delivery methods as determined by the Company; consults with school personnel to coordinate efforts in providing services to students; communicates and conferences with parents providing information on student progress.

    • Plans and facilitiates individualzied instruction for language arts, math, science and social studies for up to 10 students
    • Leads team of two assistant teachers
    • Implements IEPs as written
    • Writes academic portions of IEPs and re-evaluations
    • Participates in IEP meetings
    • Conducts progress monitoring of the current academic IEP goals and objectives
    • Collaborates with school social worker, administrator, and other related service provides to ensure student success
    • Implements the school-wide behavior support system of the Apex program with fidelity
    • Ensures supervision of students at all time

     

    Qualifications

     

    EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

    • Licensed as a Special Education Teacher by the Colorado Department of Education or eligable for a TEE or Alternative License
    • Must meet all background check requirements for state licensure as setforth by the Colorado Department of Education

     OTHER JOB REQUIREMENTS:
    Must understand that all children can learn. Must demonstrate positive and enthusiastic attitude towards internal and external customers. Must be flexible. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office preferred.

     

    PHYSICAL ENVIRONMENT/WORKING CONDITIONS:

    Light lifting, walking, climbing stairs. Most programs are in school settings.
