Overview

Supports the classroom and/or other learning environments by implementing proactive behavior management techniques to mange student behaviors and create a safe learning environment for all students. Records data and assists i implementing each student's educational plan.

Responsibilities

 

A general understanding of the teacher’s routine will be necessary when it comes to covering a classroom if the teacher is preoccupied. You will be required to work with all students in the building to promote their learning and pro-social development. In the event a student becomes a threat to themselves or others, it will be imperative that you provide support including the use of physical intervention techniques. You will assist with parent communication to keep them informed about their child’s development and any recent behavioral issues. Overall, general supervision within hallways, classrooms, cafeterias, and school yards will be the daily priority.

  • Assists teacher in the implementation of classroom management and behavioral interventions, creating an environment that is appropriate for learning. Utilizes proactive  behavior management techniques , reinforcing positive behavior, utilizing de-escalation techniques, and re-directing inappropriate behavior.
  • Assists teacher with classroom instruction, individual education plans, and/or individual behavior plan goals by working with small groups of students or an individual student.
  • Assists teacher with the planning, preparation and implementation of differentiated instructions for individual students and groups. Prepares and organizes learning materials.
  • As needed, support student's physical care (dressing, feeding, toileting, other daily life skills).
  • Data collection of student behavior and performance ensuring documentation is accurate and tracks to IEP and BIP.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma
  • College experience and or the completion of a bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • The ability to work and build relationships with students and families to help their school and behavioral progress.
  • The ability to be felixblewithin daily routines
  • Desire to work in a team oriented environment
  • A willingness to attend trainings and meetings to further your skill set.
