Overview

The School Psychologist evaluates educational needs of children within a school, and makes recommendations for strategies and services to parents and school personnel to enable children to attain maximum achievement

 

These positions are for the Dayton, Ohio area.

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES may include the following:

  • Performs psychological or psycho-educational assessment including an appraisal of all or some of the following (in accordance with referral questions): cognitive, social, adaptive, achievement and emotional status.
  • Determines student's particular strengths and weaknesses as a learner.
  • Interprets assessment results and generates a report providing feedback to parents and school personnel.
  • Advises teachers and other school personnel on methods to enhance school and classroom setting to provide an educational environment to maximize the student’s achievement
  • Serves as member of the multi-disciplinary team, where appropriate.
  • Consults with both school personnel and parents to develop specific interventions on behalf of students.
  • May monitor intervention plans Speaks at faculty meetings on specific mental health issues.
  • May counsel students individually and/or in groups to assist students with personal, social, and emotional adjustments.
  • Works as a referral agent linking students and families when appropriate with "outside" agencies, when appropriate Is knowledgeable concerning all policies and procedures as established for these services by Catapult Learning’s Program Manual, the funding source, and the individual school(s).
  • Complete required paperwork in a timely and accurate manner
  • Other duties may be assigned

 

Qualifications

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

Requires a master’s degree, and state certifications as required by contract. Must possess thorough knowledge of psychological assessment procedures and interpretation of results. 


OTHER JOB REQUIREMENTS:

Must have demonstrated ability to communicate with students, families and school personnel. Excellent time management, organizational, verbal and written communications skills are essential. Computer literacy preferred.

 

PHYSICAL ENVIRONMENT/WORKING CONDITIONS:

 

Light lifting, walking, climbing stairs. Most programs are in school settings.
