The High Road School and Catapult Learning provide social / emotional and academic services to students with a variety of special differences.  It is our goal to develop student confidence and competence through individualized academic and behavioral programs.  Working in collaboration with Philadelphia School District provides us an opportunity to address student differences in conjunction with district needs in a meaningful manner that broadens student growth opportunities and enhances their academic experience.


  • Collaborates with classroom teachers in order to coordinate instructional efforts
  • Presents subject matter to students under the direction and guidance of classroom teachers
  • Tutors and assists children individually or in small groups in order to help them master assignments and to reinforce learning concepts presented by classroom teachers
  • Supervises students in classrooms, halls, cafeterias, on campus, and gymnasiums, or on field trips
  • Ensures supervision of students at all times, including escorting students safely to and from classrooms, lunchrooms, and/or restrooms
  • Observes students' performance, and records relevant data to assess progress
  • Participates in teacher-parent conferences regarding students’ progress or problems
  • Carries out therapeutic regimens such as behavior modification and personal development programs, under the supervision of special education instructors, and/or psychologists
  • Provides Social Skills lessons in the classroom setting
  • Prepares lesson materials, bulletin board displays, exhibits, equipment, and demonstrations
  • Assists classroom teachers with the implementation of IEP program components, including providing progress monitoring of IEP goals and objectives
  • Participates as a resource person in in-service training and planning
  • Assists in maintaining student records, documentation and files and provides written reports and communications as required by Catapult, local, state, and/or federal agencies
  • Works in collaboration with the school team
  • Other duties as assigned by the Team Leader or Director



  • An understanding of the IEP process; including current IDEA laws and state and local regulations
  • Ability to interpret data related to student goals for appropriate interventions
  • Knowledge of current state law/regulations regarding high school proficiency standards
  • Knowledge and competency of understanding credit and graduation requirements
  • Leadership skills in working with individuals and groups (i.e. initiating individual or group discussion, listening, clarifying and facilitating interactions and sharing of ideas)
  • Ability to counsel students, parents, staff and lay persons individually and in groups
  • Skills in communicating concepts and information accurately orally or in writing
  • Ability to demonstrate effective liaison relationships with parents, schools, and agencies
  • Ability to aid in program development.


Education, Training and Experience:


  • Possession of a Bachelor’s degree, preferably in a related field
  • Evidence of knowledge of special education
